*    Workshops are currently available to book on Wednesday’s, Thursday’s, Friday’s. The last month currently available to book is April, as I will be in Folkestone for the summer!
*    Due to insurance purposes, attendee’s must be strictly aged 16 or over.
*    All workshops are suitable for complete beginners. You will be given a full demonstration of how the piece of jewellery is made. When it’s your turn, the processes are demonstrated again,  this time step by step – but don’t worry, assistance is given as required!
*   To provide quality tuition of your workshop, we do not mix groups! Your booking will be exclusively for you – so it could be one to one, or you may choose to have a maximum of four people in your session. Please bear in mind that the duration of the workshop will extend slightly with more people!0

Traditional D-shape Ring

During this workshop you will make one 4mm width traditional ring. There is the option to keep it plain or to add the glitter hammered or line hammered effect. A 6mm band width is also available.

Approximate time: 3 hours

After a health and safety discussion, you will be introduced to the tools to be used and receive a demonstration on the various methods of silversmithing

You will learn

To cut a length of silver with a piercing saw

How to anneal the silver with a gas torch, allowing you to add shape and texture

Form the silver into a ring shape and size it to your finger

File the ends and edges of the silver ready for soldering

How to solder the join to create a continuous round ring shape

You will then polish your ring to a mirror finish ready to wear with pride!
